Frequently Asked Questions
You refer to Grace Church of Greater Akron as your “parent church”. What does that mean?
Grace will give regular, on-going training in all aspects of church, as well as financial support. The goal is for the new church to become a self-sustaining church, able to provide for ourselves and begin to plant other churches, much like a parent raises a child to be independent and to begin to start their own family.
Do you have video messages or live teaching?
We have live teaching.
All campuses of Grace Church of Greater Akron have their own pastor who teaches his own messages live to his congregation. In this way, we will have the intimacy of a smaller church and the benefits of a larger church.
Why have you chosen to begin the church with mainly volunteer staff?
As a new church, we want to be fiscally responsible. Additionally, we get very excited about having such a low budget that we are able to do more to help our community and those in need. For us, this is part of being willing to do hard things to make Jesus clear and accessible.
If you are capping a service at 120 people, what happens when you go over that number?
First of all, no one will ever be turned away from a service! But when we consistently reach attendance of 120, we will add a second service and then a third. Once we max out at a location, we will begin the process of planting another campus in a different part of town. Grace Church of Greater Akron will help us with all the logistics of launching a campus as well as finding a pastor for the new location. The goal is never to limit growth, but to offer an environment of intimacy.
When did your church launch?
Originally we planned a soft launch date of March 2020 and a hard launch of Easter 2020. And then the Covid -19 pandemic changed those plans!
We were able to officially launch the church on October 4, 2020.
Do you have children programs?
Yes! One of our core values is that we are fully committed to kids. We unapologetically devote major resources and energy towards shaping a God-centered world view during a person’s prime developmental years.
We have an excellent dedicated children’s ministry for babies – 5th grade on Sunday mornings called POWER Kids. We provide a strong biblical foundation for kids and support and connection for parents. We partner with parents!
For us, the children’s ministry is not about adding another program; it is a cornerstone of what God calls the church to do. We are committed to change for our kids, to sacrifice, and to do whatever is necessary to make Jesus clear and accessible to them.
What denomination is your church?
We are a non-denominational church, however we have oversight by a parent church and are connected to an association of churches. Our parent church is Grace Church of Greater Akron – one of the top 100 largest churches in the country with 9 campuses in 2 states.
Our association of churches is Charis Fellowship – a network of churches, campuses and ministries in the USA and Canada who are passionate about Jesus, His truth, His Relationship, and His Mission. And that mission is to start new churches, train leaders and do good for the sake of the gospel. Charis Fellowship is a proud member of the global Charis Alliance with 3000+ churches in more than 25 countries.
